FRANKLIN COUNTY FAIR

    The North Central Iowa Model Railroad Club is located in the basement of  the former Hampton Depot.  The Rock Island depot was moved one block to its present site on the Franklin County Fairgrounds in the late 1980’s by the Franklin County Historical Society. They restored and furnished the depot with telegraphers equipment, section hands cars and rail laying tools, and lanterns. Using old brick, a paved walkway and platform were laid in front of the depot.  A Semaphore Tower was erected, rails laid, crossing signals erected, and a caboose added.   The Franklin County Fair is proud to use the depot to preserve railroad history and promote the hobby of model railroading.
