General Rules

Entry Fee: None
Premium: None

  1. All calf, pig, lamb, goat and horse exhibitors must fill out an entry form on Fair Entry by Saturday, July 1st.
  2. Open to any youth age 5 to age 10.
  3. Classes will be divided by the age of child:
    CLASS A – 5 & 6 YEAR OLDS
    CLASS B – 7 & 8 YEAR OLDS
    CLASS C – 9 & 10 YEAR OLDS
  4. Animals must be stalled by 1:00 p.m. Tuesday and released Sunday at 5:30 p.m. on a trailer only. No animals may be walked across the highway.
  5. Horses, ponies, mules, and donkeys may return home after their show.
  6. Judging based on: learning, grooming, health/management — NOT animal quality.
  7. Exhibitor cards handed out the morning of the show.
  8. Exhibitor must clean stalls before leaving, to the superintendent’s satisfaction.
  9. Open class animals cannot be shown in 4-H show.
  10. Health papers required for all open class animals.

Open Bucket Calf Class – Department 120

Superintendent: Sarah Sturges
Show: Saturday, July 12 – 8:00 a.m.

  1. Calves must be born between Feb 15 and June 1.
  2. Purchased calves must be acquired within 2 weeks of birth and tagged/tattooed.
  3. One calf per exhibitor.
  4. Calf must be bucket/bottle fed only.
  5. No show sticks allowed.
  6. Calves shown at halter.

Open Feeder Pig Class – Department 121

Superintendent: Sarah Sturges
Show: Saturday, July 12 – following Bucket Calf Show

  1. Pigs must weigh at least 100 lbs.
  2. Purchased pigs must be acquired by June 15, 2025, and tagged with USDA tag.
  3. Contact James Abbas at jabbas@agwsr.org for supplier info.
  4. Affidavit required for PEDv and dysentery clearance (past 12 months).
  5. Pigs must be vaccinated for Erysipelas by June 24.
  6. Up to 2 pigs per exhibitor; only one shown.
  7. Show whip, stick, or cane allowed.
  8. Feed and water troughs provided.

Open Bottle Lamb or Goat Class – Department 122

Superintendent: Casey Staley
Show: Saturday, July 12 – after previous shows

  1. Lambs/goats must be born April 1–June 1 and in possession within 3 weeks of birth.
    Ear tags and scrapie tags required.
  2. One lamb and/or goat per exhibitor.
  3. No weighing required.
  4. Shown at halter.
  5. Lambs must be slick shorn within 5 days of fair arrival.

Kids Open Pony & Horse Class – Department 123

Show: Sunday, July 6 at 9:30 a.m. (Horse Arena)

  1. Follows 4-H/FFA rules with exceptions:
    • No required attire
    • Boots with hard soles & heels required
  2. No stallions.
  3. Any equine species allowed (horse, pony, mule, donkey).
  4. Animal must come and leave on show day.
  5. One animal per exhibitor; one class only.
  6. 4-H regulation helmets required when mounted.
  7. Check in and get exhibitor number at arena before show.
  8. Mount/dismount in arena required.
  9. Handlers/assistants allowed in arena during showing.
  10. Classes:
    • Barrel Racing
    • In-Hand Obstacle Course
    • Walk/Trot Pleasure (lead line optional)
  11. No formal judging – participation event only.
